As the founders and managers of Two Farmers Farm, Kelsey and Dominic are the original “Two Farmers.”
We both grew up in rural communities, Kelsey on Vashon Island, Washington and Dominic in Durham, Maine. We discovered our passions for agriculture while in our early 20s, while studying Environmental Science & Policy in college in Worcester, MA. At the time, Kelsey was researching sustainable meat production while working for a local farm. Dominic was a Youth Mentor for an urban gardening program, and a core organizer for our university’s food waste composting system.
After graduation, we apprenticed at a pasture-based livestock farm in Vermont where we helped to grass-fed beef and lamb and pasture-raised pork and poultry. We learned to use tractors, make hay, drive horses, and build nutrient-rich soil.
Next, we moved to a year-round vegetable farm in upstate New York where we were instantly hooked on vegetable production and the satisfaction of providing high-quality produce to our community.
Wanting to remain close to family, we returned to Maine to establish Two Farmers Farm in 2011, and 2013 was our inaugural season in Scarborough.
